Read This First: This is not a caregiving job. It's one of the most demanding, most important positions we know of — and it's not for everyone. A Direct Support Professional at Reflektions Ltd. supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live the lives they choose: in their own homes, in their communities, on their own terms. If you're looking for “any job” or an easy one, this won’t be for you.

About Reflektions Ltd.

We are a DODD-certified Homemaker/Personal Care (HPC) provider in Delaware County, Ohio, dedicated to person-centered support that helps individuals with developmental disabilities live independent, meaningful lives. We take compliance seriously — and more than that, we take people seriously.

What You'll Actually Do

  • Read and implement Individual Service Plans (ISPs) exactly as written
  • Provide hands-on personal care: bathing, grooming, dressing, hygiene, meal preparation, homemaking
  • Support community access: appointments, activities, shopping, social connections
  • Teach life skills — communication, socialization, money management, household tasks
  • Document every shift in objective, specific, timely service notes
  • Observe and promptly report health changes, incidents, and concerns to your supervisor
  • Uphold each individual's legal rights under Ohio law (ORC 5123.62) on every shift
  • Work nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled

Reality of the Role

Every weekend availability is required — not every other weekend, every single one. This is non-negotiable. If you need weekends off on a regular basis, this role isn't the right fit — no hard feelings.

This includes personal care (bathing, toileting, hygiene), regular night and weekend shifts, and supporting individuals through challenging behaviors. If you are not comfortable with these responsibilities, please do not apply.

You Should Apply If

  • You understand that supporting someone's choice is harder than making the choice for them — and you're committed to doing the harder thing
  • You're reliable, punctual, and follow through — every shift, not most shifts
  • You hold professional boundaries without being cold — warm and boundaries are not opposites
  • You're calm under pressure and an adaptable problem-solver
  • You notice changes in mood, health, and routine — and you document and report them
  • You're the same professional whether your supervisor is watching or not

This Role Is Not for You If

  • You want this job because you feel sorry for people with disabilities — that's not a qualification
  • You think policies and documentation are obstacles — they're the job
  • You want to be needed — the goal of this work is to help people need us less over time

Requirements

  • Available to work every weekend — no exceptions
  • 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Ohio driver's license with fewer than 6 points, and reliable transportation
  • Must pass BCI/FBI fingerprint background check, DODD Abuser Registry check, and SORN check
  • Willingness to complete required training (CPR/First Aid, DSP training, Medication Administration)
  • Prior direct care experience is not required — the right attitude is

What Reflektions Ltd. Provides

  • $20.00/hour for awake shifts; $11.00/hour for sleep shifts; overtime at 1.5x average regular rate
  • PTO accrual: 0.0385 hours per hour worked
  • All required training paid — 8-hour DSP training, DODD NEO, CPR/First Aid, Medication Administration certification
  • Health, Dental, and Vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match (100% on first 3%, 50% on next 2%)
  • Tuition scholarships to 100+ online programs through the University of Cincinnati — certificates through graduate degrees
  • Structured supervision designed to develop your professional skills
  • Clear written policies — zero ambiguity about expectations
  • Zero tolerance for retaliation against staff who do the right thing
  • Mileage reimbursement, referral program, paid orientation, safety equipment provided
